Who votes where in Rutherford County

Posted on March 1, 2015 by Ken Blake

Some voters in Rutherford County have to travel outside their precinct to cast a ballot, a look at the county’s precinct boundaries and polling places shows.

For example, voters in the LaVergne Lake Elementary School Precinct in the county’s northern tip vote at the school the precinct is named after. But on their way to the school, they cross into the neighboring LaVergne Middle School Precinct.

Meanwhile, The Oakland High School Precinct in northeast Murfreesboro contains three polling places: its own polling place at Oakland High School, another at Oakland Middle School, which serves the precinct to the east, and a third at John Pittard School, which serves the precinct to the west.

Each county voter’s registration card indicates where he or she is supposed to vote. The Rutherford County Election Commission also puts a “Where do I vote” link on its website prior to each election.
